Join the French-American Heritage Foundation and the Alliance Française for a presentation by Greg Cash who will discuss the French explorers and traders, Médard Chouart de Groseilliers and Pierre-Esprit Radisson, who were the first Europeans to journey to Minnesota in the mid-1600s, and who played an important role in the establishment of the Hudson’s Bay Company.
Join us for the satirical one-woman show, by French artist Layla Metssitane, based on the book Stupeur et Tremblements (1999) by Belgian best-selling author Amélie Nothomb. This theatrical rendition of the book captures the unique language and literary effects of Nothomb. The performance will be presented in French with English subtitles.
At the occasion of the performance of Stupeur et tremblements at the Alliance Française of Mpls/St Paul, Layla Metssitane, stage director, actress and adaptor of Amélie Nothomb’s novel will meet our audience for an exceptional conversation.

This month's discussion on Quand vient l’automne (2024) will be led by Peter Debruge, Chief Film Critic at Variety.

On the 81st anniversary of the Liberation of France join the Alliance Française and the JCC at the University Club of St Paul to hear testimonies from direct and indirect witnesses of this time, with Prof. Bruno Chaouat from the University of Minnesota and Prof. Sharon Marquart from Gustavus Adolphus College. Our special guests Sarah Chaouat, Nelly Hewett and Jacqueline O'Brien will share how WW2 affected them and their families, their remembrance of Liberation and its lasting consequence.
The conversation will be moderated by Valerie Tremelat and will be followed by a Q&A and light refreshments.
