Cabaret an exhibit by Dominique Winders
Dominique is a multi-disciplinary artist working in collage and mixed media to create provocative artwork which is rich in symbolism and cultural references in which she pays homage to her Midwestern upbringing by using architectural elements salvaged from farmsteads juxtaposed with her French “dance-hall” heritage. Her intricate hand cut collage narratives are filled with tiny details, humor, and whimsy. She is drawn to archetypes and medieval imagery and poses flamboyant cabaret dancers in alluring, psychedelic landscapes to create work that is both nostalgic and surreal.
The exhibit will be on view during regular open hours of the Alliance Française Mpls/St Paul.
