petit potager: Byos (bring your own soil) event
Do you have a green thumb? Do you have leftover materials from your garden such as compost, lawn clippings, plants, shade cloth, or more that you would like to donate to our new children’s learning garden?
Join us on Saturday, June 28 from 11 am to 1 pm for our first Petit Potager event! For the first time ever at AFMSP, we will be planting raised beds and starting a children’s learning garden!
byos (bring your own soil)
Where: Le Petit Potager garden at AFMSP (located on the West side of the building)
What: A community planting event of our new children’s learning garden
What to bring: Food-grade soil, compost, mulch, logs, cardboard, newspaper, grass clippings, raised bed liner fabric, wire mesh, hand-me-down garden supplies, leftover plants, etc.
Why: Our goal is to make “compost-sandwich” raised beds. Not everything brought to the event may be used, but all will be appreciated!
Questions on what to bring? Email Juni Holtgrewe at youth@afmsp.org
le petit potager
This summer, AFMSP is building a learning garden for our children’s summer camps and grade school students. Gardens are a great way to teach new vocabulary, learn through cooperation, combine science and culture (and culture!), and learn about land stewardship throughout the year.
The garden is sponsored in part by a GroMoreGood Grassroots Grant, brought to you by The Scotts Miracle-Gro Foundation and KidsGardening. This grant is designed to bring the life-enhancing benefits of gardens to communities across the United States. Our thanks to Gertens Fundraising as well, our partner in fundraising, as they have donated supplies and plants to help us establish this learning garden. Merci beaucoup !
