Bastille Day 2026
Bastille Day is coming!
Each year on July 14, people in France celebrate Bastille Day (le 14 juillet), the country’s national holiday. The day commemorates the storming of the Bastille prison in 1789, when Parisians seized gunpowder and weapons. This uprising became a powerful symbol of the people’s revolt against royal authority and marked a pivotal moment that helped spark the French Revolution.
Across France, la Fête nationale is celebrated with lively festivities: community dances (bals), concerts, games, fireworks, and the famous military parade along the Champs-Élysées in Paris.
Join us at the Alliance Française for our annual Bastille Day celebration on Tuesday, July 14, from 5 to 8 pm. We invite the whole community to enjoy live music, traditional French food, and entertainment for all ages in a festive atmosphere inspired by celebrations in France. More details coming soon, stay tuned!
