Bord de scène - Meet the artist!

A Special Visit with Waahli
in collaboration with The Cedar Cultural Center

Music and Q&A

Born in Montreal of Haitian parents, Waahli joins us for a special, intimate gathering at Alliance Française. Waahli will play a few solo acoustic renditions of his songs, share a bit about himself and his art in a Q&A, and will spend time meeting attendees.

Join us join us for an evening of music and mingling with young professionals, francophiles and music lovers!

While attendance for this smaller event is free, RSVP is required. Light refreshments will be provided.

Waahli is a Montreal artist born of Haitian parents. Raised in a family where music is omnipresent, he was immersed by the traditional Haitian melodies with artists such as Tabou Combo, Coupé Cloué or Manno Charlemagne. He learned to play the guitar on his own, and while still channeling influences from Haitian music, he ultimately has developed his own style in hip-hop.

In 2004, Waahli co-founded Nomadic Massive, a mythical hip hop group in Montreal. Still active, the group has just completed a new EP recorded during a tour in South America.

In 2018, Waahli felt the need to develop a solo project and released his very first album Black Soap, followed in 2020 by the EP Soap Opera, and most recently, his full length Soap Box in 2022. Performing in English, French and Haitian Creole, these songs are a fusion of catchy rhythms at the crossroads of rap and Afro-beat and are a true tribute to Haitian culture.

Waahli sings his compositions in French, English and Haitian Creole.
