French Cinemathèque - L'histoire de Souleymane / Souleymane's Story (2024)

Each month the Federation of AF USA, in collaboration with Telescope Film chooses a Francophone film currently available to stream for you to watch it independently, and join them for a free conversation with a film expert. This month's discussion will be led by Peter Debruge, Chief Film Critic at Variety.

After emmigrating from Guinea, Souleymane works as a delivery driver in Paris. Waiting for his asylum interview, he practices the story that he will tell the French administration. However, homelessness, trouble at work, financial difficulties, and anxiety about his family in Guinea, make it difficult to prepare, and he worries that his asylum application will not be accepted.
