Festival de cinéma en plein air

Join us for a week of outdoor Cinéma sous les étoiles ! Lasting from Monday, August 30th to Saturday, September 4th we will be featuring a number of films that are sure to provide fun and entertainment to all! Showings will include a French movie for children, a French classic, features from across the Francophone world, documentaries, and more! Movies titles and showing times are detailed below! We welcome you to come see one, some or all!

Please note: Weather is subject to change. If conditions prevent us from projecting films outside showings will be moved indoors to La Grande Salle.
This event will be held in person on the parking lot of the Alliance Française MSP at 227 Colfax Ave N Minneapolis, MN. Safe social distancing practices will be followed in accordance with the Minnesota Department of Health guidelines. 

Bring your own chairs and/or blankets!

Monday, August 30

Teacher Antoinette is looking forward to a holiday with her partner, but to her horror he cancels on her and takes his family to the mountains. When she follows him, she embarks on a trekking tour with a donkey. Film language is in French with English subtitles.

Tuesday, August 31

This film is an immersion into the universe of five female emergency physicians working in the pediatric emergency rooms of the Southern Hospital of Rennes. United in a common service to others, they reflect on the joys and sufferings of their professions. Film language is in French with no subtitles.

Azur et Asmar

Wednesday, September 1

Raised by the same woman, the dark-complexioned, Asmar, and the flaxen-haired, Azur, set out on a quest to a strange and magical land to liberate the enchanting Djinn-fairy; but, only one can save her. Will the brothers be triumphant? Film language is in French  with English subtitles.

Thursday, September 2

The women known as Madan Sara in Haiti work tirelessly to buy, distribute, and sell food and other essentials in markets through the country. This documentary tells the stories of these indefatigable women who work at the margins to make Haiti’s economy run. Film language is in French with English subtitiles.

Friday, September 3

Several ordinary Frenchmen go on an epic voyage through the occupied country to the free zone as they help British pilots avoid Nazi captivity. Film language is in French with English subtitles.

Saturday, September 4

After a wealthy Parisian quadriplegic hires a young man to be his caretaker, the two form a unique and close friendship despite their differences. Film language is in French with English subtitles.
