Fall Open House - Sept 11

Whether you want to learn to speak French, cook an amazing French meal, discover French films, or if you’re simply curious to know who we are and what the Alliance Française can offer you… come to our Fall Open House to learn more about our French cultural center!
Discover the Alliance Française’s home in the Joly Family Center for International Understanding at 227 Colfax Ave N, Minneapolis, MN 55405. Celebrate the arrival of fall with us and many new opportunities à venir !

Dictée
Don't miss our fun dictée for all levels! Practice your grammar and comprehension skills by writing out what you hear. Dictées are a classic and fun way to practice French, even for native speakers!
The dictées will take place in our Vaaler Galerie upstairs starting at 12 for levels A1/A2, 12:30 for B1/B2, 1pm for C1/C2 and 1:30pm for native speakers.

Les Petits Penseurs
Kids ages 4 - 8 will have the chance to practice their French in our Petits Penseurs, or “Little Thinkers” workshop at 2pm! Join us for a playful and creative way to let your child speak French, and  explore a philosophical theme through reading and games. For this workshop, the theme is Diversity - la diversité. We will be reading Elmer l'éléphant and discuss about what diversity means and how we can talk about it.

Sample classes
Curious what classes at the Alliance are like? Try out a sample class with some of our instructors!
Jean will sample a beginner class at 1pm, Damien will teach a sample Pronunciation class for beginner-intermediate speakers at 2:30pm, and Marie-Jeanne will be leading kids classes throughout the day!
Adult sample classes will take place in Salle 200, kids classes in Salle 213.

Come by and join us for a coffee, and snack on a pastry! Sample croissants, muffins & more from our friends at Honey & Rye Bakehouse in the future space where they will operate Le Café. Practice your French or browse our library while you're here. There's something for everyone!


This is a free event open to the public. Registration is preferred but not required.
This event will be held in person at Alliance Française MSP, information booths outdoors in our parking lot with possibility to go inside the building to visit, have a look of what we offer in our gift shop, participate in sample classes and/or dictées. The event will be limited to 200 people. Measures will be taken for your  safety. Masks are required inside the building. Safe social distancing practices will be followed in accordance with the Minnesota Department of Health guidelines. All attendees will be required to provide proof of vaccination or a negative COVID-19 test within 72 hours of the event. Please send documentation of one of these requirements to us in advance to culture@afmsp.org and intern_eventplanning@afmsp.org. While we would prefer to receive these documents in advance, we will also accept proof of vaccination or a negative test upon entry to the event.
