TEF Exam - Test d'Evaluation du Français

 

The AFMSP provides the official test to evaluate your French level with TEF, recognized by the Chambre de Commerce et d’Industrie de Paris.

What is the TEF ?

The TEF is designed to assess the level of French language of non native French speakers. It is useful in many cases :

¨           Required for some French Universities,

¨           Add value your resume,

¨           Apply for a position with a French company,

¨           Required to immigrate in Quebec (TEFAQ is the specific test recognized by the Immigration Department of Quebec).

 

It gives a quantitative and qualitative measure of each candidate's linguistic and communication skills.  The TEF also offers a detailed and personalized analysis of results.

A TEF certificate is valid for one year. You can take the TEF exams as many times as you want and no diploma is required to take the TEF.

 

The TEF includes:

Three Obligatory Sections (2 hours 10 minutes):

  1. Written Comprehension (1 hour),
  2. Listening Comprehension (about 40 min),
  3. Vocabulary and Structures (30 min)

 

Two Optional Sections:

  1. Written Expression (1hour),
  2. Oral Expression (35 min per candidate)

 

The TEFAQ includes Two compulsory Sections (1 hour 15 minutes) :

  1. Oral comprehension (40 minutes)
  2. Oral expression (35 minutes)
