Language experts agree, children have a natural ability to learn foreign languages and the earlier they begin, the better they will become.
The Alliance Française offers many classes and events for children to begin, develop and reinforce French language learning:
- "L'Heure des Petits" is a class for preschoolers aged 2-4 that meets every Thursday morning from 10-11 am. It is a time for songs, games, books and more led by native French speaker and mother of two, Karine Henry.
- Saturday classes for children from age 4 to 15, choose from Beginner or Experienced level classes with our children's class expert Marie-Jeanne Delevaux-Hargitt.
- Summer camps for children from age 2 to 11. The Alliance Française offers half-day and full-day programs with a variety of dates. The theme for Summer 2008 will be Camille Saint Saëns' Le Carnival des Animaux and will include a trip to the Como Zoo. For complete details, please click here.
- Ciné Kids is a monthly film screening in the Grande Salle of the Alliance Française. Films are shown in French, without subtitles. For the current Ciné Kids schedule, click here.
- The AF of Minneapolis St Paul proudly offers Scholarship opportunities for students in grades 10 and 11 who are not able to pursue French langage learning in their school. Applications will be accepted from May 1, 2008 and awarded in June 2008. To apply, please contact Executive Director, Karine Cantin.
- Other events for children throughout the year such as "Fête d'Hiver," "Fête des Rois" and "Bastille Day" celebrations. Stay tuned to our Events Calendar for details on any upcoming children's programs.
