Konbit: Community Celebration

Enjoy a celebratory performance by Raboday Dance and Drums in collaboration with Afoutayi Dance Company to begin the month of Haiti in grand fanfare.  Professor Joëlle Vitiello will offer a brief overview of the country including history and cultural traditions.

A film school in Haiti: Ciné Institute

Wednesday, March 18 at 7 pm


Join Valerie Deus and discover the Haitian film school Ciné Institute and some of its talented artists with this unique projection of short films.  Ciné Institute offers a two-year training program in that gives a powerful voice to Haiti’s storytellers, allowing them to produce top quality work. 


$10 per person, children under 10 free; a portion of the proceeds will benefit Ciné Institute.

Voices of the Diaspora with Rodney Saint-Éloi

Wednesday, March 11 at 7 pm


French writer and scholar Rodney Saint-Éloi will speak on the literature of Haiti and exile, as well as the beauty and elegance of his homeland despite insecurity and poverty. He will read from his own poetic works in Créole and French.  Locally based authors Jacqueline Regis and Valerie Deus will share excerpts of their work as well.
